I’ve created my own comprehensive, evidence-based childbirth education series that brings together over 15 years of midwifery experience, my clinical knowledge, and my lived experience.

These classes are designed to be empowering, deeply educational, and grounded in informed choice. My intention is that every couple walks away feeling confident, capable, and genuinely prepared for what labour and birth look like — from the first contraction through to postpartum recovery.

Because preparation changes everything.

Birth is not just a physical event.

It is a nervous system event.

It is a hormonal event.

It is deeply influenced by mindset, safety, and support.

Understanding birth means understanding how your autonomic nervous system functions, how hormones orchestrate labour, and how your environment and support team can either enhance or disrupt that process.

And your partner’s or support person’s role is not secondary — it is fundamental.

When partners are educated and prepared, they move from being passive observers to confident, active participants. They learn how to protect the birth space, support regulation, advocate when needed, and become a steady anchor throughout labour and beyond.

This course prepares both of you.

In Session Two, we are joined by a Women’s Health Physiotherapist who provides in-depth pelvic floor education — supporting you to potentially minimise dysfunction in pregnancy, optimise birth outcomes, and protect long-term postpartum recovery.

The Structure of the Classes

This course runs over three comprehensive sessions, each 2.5 hours long.

Each session builds on the last — giving you knowledge, practical tools, and the confidence to make decisions that feel aligned with you.

Session One: Understanding How Birth Works

We begin with the foundations.

In this session we cover:

  • The physiology of labour, stages of labour and what is happening from start to finish
  • The hormonal blueprint of labour
  • The autonomic nervous system and its role in birth
  • Mindset
  • Nutrition for optimal pregnancy and postpartum
  • The essential and practical role of your birth partner

You will leave understanding not just what happens in labour – but why it happens.

Session Two: Navigating Labour with Confidence

This session bridges knowledge with practical application.

We explore:

  • Tools and techniques as labour builds
  • Comfort measures and regulation strategies
  • Creating your birth environment (home and/or hospital)
  • When to stay home and when to call your care provider
  • A comprehensive deep dive into medical interventions, including induction
  • Pain relief options — natural and pharmaceutical
  • In-depth pelvic floor education with our Women’s Health Physiotherapist
  • How our partner can support us and their role in home and/or hospital

This is where information becomes empowerment.

Session Three: Preparing for Postpartum

In our final session, we focus on preparing for the fourth trimester, including:

  • The physiology of postpartum recovery
  • Breastfeeding foundations
  • Emotional adjustment and identity shifts
  • Building a strong, realistic support network
  • Your partner’s role in protecting and supporting postpartum
  • Postpartum for the Dads

Because true preparation doesn’t end at birth.

My goal is that you:

Walk into labour informed.

Move through birth feeling supported.

Enter postpartum prepared.

And that both you and your partner feel steady, confident, and connected as you step into parenthood together.
